If you haven’t tried Switchback Pizza yet, you gotta. The hostess has an awesome personality and she was attentive, funny & friendly. Their busser was also friendly & professional. We opted to sit outside and we ordered “small bites” and 2 pizzas along with dessert. Not much wait at all for the quality of food! (I’d much rather go here and wait than be at larger chain restaurant that is noisy and crowded.) I also much prefer a little bit of a wait for quality food & service. It’s worth it to me & nice that it wasn’t overly noisy or overstimulating. The atmosphere is small town background noise, friendly chatter & very comfortable / down to earth. It seems almost everything here is handmade & locally sourced so that’s extra appealing too. We didn’t even try the drinks but they have a really creative and appealing drink menu that we’ll have to check out next time. The small bites: Ciabatta bun (FRESH from the oven!) absolutely delicious. Meatballs - drenched in fresh tomato sauce fresh garlic and herbs & locally sourced meats. The pizza: the dough is awesome - crunchy and fresh, with a really nice wood oven flavor. We got the prosciutto & margarita with mushrooms & onions added on. I love the fresh greens & the sauce doesn’t hit hard & acidic like some pizza sauces do. The desserts: We tried all 3 of what they had: chocolate mousse, tahini, and the cheesecake. All of them were awesome. The mousse is light creamy & chocolatey. The tahini tastes like warm chocolate chips fresh out of the oven with a crunchy shell & there is ginger sugar on the whipped cream. The cheesecake has a different texture than regular cheesecake because it’s made with ricotta cheese. (Which I really liked!) The portions were just right & I was able to fit in dessert. Everything seems carefully planned & curated towards a great dining experience & great personality & presence from staff. Will DEFINITELY be visiting again! (My son pointed out how clever the logo is, it is a train mixed with a wood oven!) I did not get pictures of the apps or pizza because I was so excited to eat them because they smelled so good!! we literally have gone here over and over again for years, not only for the great pizza and meatballs, but because we love adriana, she is the sweetest, bubbliest server, and always makes sure everything is perfect.. she is absolutely the best in every way at making us feel special and taken care of. the owners are also always happy to see us and treat us like family friends. overall, this is probably one of our favorite small family restaurants to go to in the whole lehigh valley.. quality ingredients and love put into every bite!!!
Everything is so great, I “eat it all up.” The sourdough, attention to local ingredients, specialty pizzas, and vegetarian-friendliness are my fav parts of their business. And, their staff are so sweet! As are the desserts!
Genuinely the best pizza I've ever had. The atmosphere is great; the tent is right next to the train tracks so consider this a noise warning - but it was also very charming. Writing this review largely on the basis of the customer service: We ordered chocolate mousse for dessert; they forgot to tell us they were out, so they made a whole bowl fresh RIGHT before closing time. Adriana and Julia are a pair of LEGENDS: so personable, friendly, took care of all our needs ASAP, and still made time to chat and banter with us. They are so kind and funny, they deserve all the praise and love.
Let’s just start off by saying, I’ll be back. The pizza here was sooooo good! I couldn’t believe I ate an entire pizza by myself! Yes it’s that easy. We came in hot with a group of 12 half of them were kids but the staff was soooo accommodating because (we forgot to call) and they had just had rush hour. They fixed us up and got us seated right away. Not to mention it was quick service between drink orders and the pizza. We had a piece of every kind of pie they had to offer, and I tried them all. There was not one I did not enjoy the brick oven definitely works for this little joint offering a packed tasty sauce which is my favorite part of a pizza. The flights were a cool way to try all their different flavors of ciders. Happy to have ran into this joint.
Wonderful and unique fresh made pizza in a wood fired brick oven as you watch from the counter seating. Always look forward to our next visit! Update May 31st, 2025 Another trip to Switchback Pizza was wonderful! The backed to order Ciabatta rolls are amazing. Try the approach, splurge for the rolls, order a whole pizza for yourself, then take 1/2 of the pizza home. Twice the enjoyment for a very reasonable price :)
By far the best pizza around. Everything is fresh and always cooked to perfection. The standard menu has some incredible options and there are often specials that are amazing too. It can be enjoyable to sit near the oven and watch them make pizzas. Staff is always very friendly. The place is small and can be pretty busy, but it’s absolutely worth waiting for. You will not regret eating here at all.
This place is our absolute favorite! Their Detroit pizza is amazing. Their normal pizzas are amazing and have the best tasting crust. The ciabatta roll is also amazing. Staff is super friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that Detroit pizza is only available on Saturdays lol
